Savan 1 Wind Power Project in Laos

The Savan 1 wind power project, located in Savannakhet Province (Laos), is one of the largest renewable energy projects in the Indochina region to date. With a total capacity of up to 495 MW, the project marks a strategic step toward exporting electricity from Laos to Vietnam, contributing to energy security and promoting bilateral cooperation.

Phase 1 of the project includes 48 Goldwind wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6.25 MW, totaling 300 MW. Invested by T&T Group (Vietnam), the project is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2025.

Given its large scale, mountainous terrain, and challenging weather conditions, the project demands professional construction management, modern heavy-lifting equipment, and a highly qualified technical team.

PLC – Main Installation Contractor Under General Contractor Gedi

At the Savan 1 project, PLC Heavy Lifting Services JSC (PLC) serves as the main turbine installation contractor under Gedi – the general contractor responsible for the procurement and installation of the entire wind turbine system.

PLC’s scope of work includes:

Using large cranes with lifting capacity up to 800 tons for turbine erection
Offloading turbine components at the foundation and fully assembling the wind turbine sets (tower, nacelle, hub, blades)
Electrical installation and technical support during commissioning
Providing internationally qualified engineers, technicians, riggers, and signalmen
Working in close coordination with Gedi and Goldwind experts throughout the installation process

PLC also organized multiple simultaneous installation teams to meet the tight schedule while maintaining high safety and technical standards, as required by the investor and the equipment manufacturer.
